Why would Chinese immigrants support Ford? Why would a friend of mine who uses public transit every day, support Ford? Why would a poor black woman, living in public housing at Jane/Finch, support Ford, when he voted to cut grants to under privileged neighbourhoods? Why do poor, uninsured people in the Southern USA oppose Obama for trying to get them health care?

Some things in life just make no sense. Many people vote against their own best interests and are their own worst enemies.

Only 24% of the city voted for him, yes. That alarmed me the day the stats came out shortly after the election - not to mention that only about 25% of registered voters who live downtown turned out to vote, for whoever. But - don't let that suggest to you that somehow all of the people that didn't vote would have voted for the other guy(s) - it's reasonable to think that if 50% of the city turns out to vote, they are somewhat representative of the city at large.

That being said - because of the voting system, the man who didn't get a majority won the vote. Rossi and Smitherman combined had more votes than ford, which would be the equivalent of a minority gov't at the provincial/federal level.

OK, people are freaking out about this video... what exactly did Women's Post say to lead people to believe they had a video of Rob Ford smoking crack? Everyone's acting like WP was misleading people but I'm having a hard time understanding why people believed that they, above all other media outlets, would get it first...

She posted the following:

Women's Post has the video! Just trying to get our video server embedded...releasing it tomorrow at noon.

People started assuming it was the crack video and she didn't correct those comments. If you're to believe YouTube commenters, one guy noticed that any comments relating to her transit video were deleted, while the Ford-related comments were kept up.

If you scrolled down her Facebook page, you'd she she was working on a transit video within the last few days. Somebody here debunked her having the Ford video last night, but alas, not everyone on the internet reads this thread. I think she intentionally made a vague post to direct attention to her transit video. Sarah Thomson loves attention.

Er, no. Hearsay would be the reporters saying someone told them they saw a video. And this isn't a court of law, it's not difficult to see by what's happened since the report, and all the picture with Mr. Smith, that something is amiss here.

You realize that someone doesn't need to be faced with a bullet-proof court-case to feel compelled to resign from public office, right? Public officials resign all-the-time when there are credible allegations. Ford is in Berlusconi territory right now...

You can't just toss out the eyewitness reports of 3 independent professional journalists as "hearsay". They are witnesses, and their testimony would be judged accordingly in a court of law based on their credibility. Not to mention the eyewitness report of Towhey saying that Price approached him to talk about the video, and the witnesses in the meeting where Ford said that he knew where the video was.

But none of that matters since it's not on tape, right? Or none of it matters because... conspiracy red star faked video

the gas meter is very visible on the recent star photo of 'the garage' if the gas meter is available in the shot with Ford/Smith, then it would be relatively easy to date the Ford/Smith photo from enbridge records

For creationists it's not difficult to see what the bible says is the truth either. Just saying, the comparison of creationists and dinosaurs doesn't hold up.
