That's how it, and every other low-floor streetcar built, is supposed to look.

All of the stuff that used to be located under the floor is now on the roof, so you need to be able to access it easily.

I hadn't seen one from above yet, so that's good to know. Thanks.

Got moved over. :)
Mods are on top of things today!
Although transit and traffic seems to be the top electoral issue, so it could be a topic of conversation in many threads.

StreetcarTO Announcement: https://www.facebook.com/StreetcarTO
We are happy to announce that the new streetcar will be in the Beaches Easter Parade along with its predecessors the Peter Witt, PCC and CLRV.

Being expecting this and would have almost the whole fleet since TTC came into existent there. Should be CLRV, Witt, PCC and the new car.

So that's why they don't want any politicians in the parade. They didn't want Rob Ford to throw any of his chocolate eggs at any of the streetcars.

Some funny tweets today:

Mayor Ford again talks about phasing out streetcars, but acknowledges he couldn't do it for long time. Like 30 years.

In case there was any doubt, Ford says he will always pick his car over riding a streetcar. # topoli

Mayor Ford also declares he will "never" get on a streetcar and will order no more as long as he's mayor.

Hey, great news! I guess I'll be heading to my very first Easter Parade because I gotta check out that new streetcar.

Ford is great at being divisive and not knowing what he is talking about.

This is a great tweet:
Light Rail Toronto ‏@LightRailTO 12m
Friendly reminder: King and Queen streetcar routes move more people than the Sheppard subway and GO buses combined. #TOpoli

King and Queen streetcars also carry more people than the entire Brampton Transit system. Just goes to show what a waste of money suburban transit is.

I guess you would love to see those riders in cars and make your driving life worse as well everyone???

How long has K & Q been around compare to Brampton?? What was it like to ride Brampton Transit 10 and 20 years ago and how does it compared today??

Brampton is running circles around Mississauga today related to transit and that saying something. Anyway, what does this have to do to the streetcar thread?

I would like to take a moment to point out that the King, Queen and Spadina streetcars each move more people that that billion dollar useless hole in the ground known as the Sheppard Subway that our unbelievably screwed up crackhead mayor insists needs to be extended. And they do it at a fraction of the cost too.

mind you the Sheppard subway is 5.5km long and the king streetcar is 12km, and I believe Sheppard beats out the queen streetcar in ridership. (and the 501 is even longer) The only one really comparable is the Spadina streetcar which is actually almost exactly the same length.

Toronto should shut down the Sheppard Subway, fill in those tunnels. It's just a white elephant, like Rob Ford. If streetcars can handle King and Queen, bus should be enough for Sheppard. Considering Sheppard's low density and suburban nature, arguably even bus is overkill.

That "build it and they will come" mentality is the problem with transit planning the GTA today. Transit should fit the current built form, and Brampton current built form does not warrant transit service of any kind.

You can look to the disaster and waste that was VIVA too. You can hundreds of millions and build it, but doesn't mean they will come.

I guess that explains why Mississauga has higher total ridership and higher per capita ridership than Mississauga. Brampton's running circles around Mississauga! Even if that was true, it wouldb't be saying much. King, Queen, College, Carlton streetcars have higher ridership than all Mississauga Transit. 4 TTC lines > the entire Mississauga system. People downtown need to think about whether it is okay for their tax dollar to wasted on a $1.6 billion line in Mississauga too. Remember, the Sheppard subway costed less than that...
