"Currie Barracks, a former military base, has already been a site of interest for the federal government’s housing strategy. Canada Lands Co. is in the process of developing a 200-acre site in Currie that will eventually bring 5,700 housing units to the neighbourhood, according to CMHC."
200-acre site, 5,700 units... is this BOSA's central parcel?
We knew about the other 99-unit one where they did the announcement awhile back it is going in here.

The article mentions two other Currie sites. They're here. One is a empty field across the street from the 99-unit building, the other is a parking lot just east of the empty field.

They should at least refurbish the store at Chinook and Market. Chinook still has the Genius logos on the back wall and the dim metallic silver appearance looks pretty dated

Speaking of this, the one at market has the back of the store boarded off for renovations. Not sure what they're doing though

I'm actually surprised there's not an Apple Store in The Core. I feel that Calgary is easily big enough to support a 3rd Apple Store. Vancouver has 5 with like 1.5x our population...

I'd love a downtown brick and mortar store, like a fancy flagship for the city, similar to St Cathrines street or Pacific Centre.

The City of Calgary is launching RiverHall YYC this weekend. It is pop up placemaking at Lot 6 featuring a container bar, live music and rotating food/beer vendors. The city has made a few placemaking attempts at Lot 6 over the last few years that have kind of fallen flat but I saw what they were setting up when I went by on the train the other day and this one looks like it could really be a hit with Calgarians. Especially with the weather forecast for this weekend.

Went by and checked out the RiverHall pop-up today. Definitely a great piece of public placemaking along the river walk. It's open 11am-10pm Thurs-Sat until the end of September. Not sure why they don't have it open on the Sunday and Monday of the long weekend as that seems like an obvious opportunity missed. City of Calgary deserves a pat on the back for this one. Hopefully it returns next year for a full summer season.

Amazing venue, but such an odd choice to run only a few days at the end of the summer, excluding Sundays.

I stopped by too - it's such a great space.

The most obvious thing ever has finally occurred - put a nice beer garden, with food, seats and music directly on the south bank of Bow River pathway. As expected, it's a success and is very popular.

This is right up there on the list of the most obvious things we should do to make Calgary better with widening the sidewalks/patios on 17th Avenue SW and creating effective public transit to Banff.

One application in two years... although I guess there are other conversations. Wonder if the old convenience store now fenced off in the area might also access this program? The program area is tight... between the rail lines to the south and 2 Avenue SW in the north, and from 9 Street SW to 3 Street SE. Wonder who the conversations are with?

Wow, that render does a great job capturing the character of the neighborhood.

Somehow they've made the sidewalk even narrower and less accessible than what is already there. My favorite part is where dead ends in a tree planter with no way for pedestrians to get around.

Usually developers can be so insensitive and change the neighborhood so much. Great to see ONE Properties doing such sensitive work and preserving this culturally important car sewer.
