Cressy voted against it because it was FordI’d like to understand why those 4 Councillors voted against the motion.
Really excited that this is moving forward. Such an easy win.
Which one of you is Mikey Ford?
Is it actually moving forward though? Metrolinx has to agree to it, the funding has to come from somewhere...Really excited that this is moving forward. Such an easy win.
Of course they will. Mikey just calls up his uncle and it's done. Doug Ford was a big supporter of the Woodbine Live project. I'd be surprised if this ask got shot down.Is it actually moving forward though? Metrolinx has to agree to it, the funding has to come from somewhere...
Ford is Councillor for Ward 1 (Etobicoke North) and Holyday is Councillor for Ward 2 (Etobicoke Centre). Both Councillors represent the western edge of Toronto. The western extension would be entirely in Ward 1.
An eastern extension to at least the Finch Station on Line 1 would go through Wards 6 and 18. Waiting for Councillors Pasternak and Filion's recommendations.
East is more complex and expensive as a large part of it would be underground. This will require a lot more work and money than the extension to Woodbine GO.The extension east to Yonge is not even being considered, yet the EA has already been done.
They'll go below grade at Humber College Station, rising upward with a bridge over the Humber River and bulldoze through the parking lots (oh the horrors!) to reach Woodbine GO. It's whether or not to go and stay above grade before or after Rexdale Blvd, that is the question.East is more complex and expensive as a large part of it would be underground. The west extension is an easy win in that it's about 3KM of track, mostly straight with a wide ROW. I think the biggest challenge is getting to grade from Humber station. This project could probably be handled by the current group doing the Finch LRT or the TTC.
Nah the city and/or Metrolinx will find an excuse to bury the entire extension underground and travel under the Humber River thus strapping a rocket to the cost. What should only be a couple hundred million dollars will balloon into a couple of billion because the powers that be have an ungodly obsession with everything needing to be underground. They'll go below grade at Humber College Station, rising upward with a bridge over the Humber River and bulldoze through the parking lots (oh the horrors!) to reach Woodbine GO. It has already been planned, only part underground is the station at Yonge, and the connection to it from the first intersection west of Yonge.East is more complex and expensive as a large part of it would be underground
The other question is where to put any intermediate stops. My first thought was that Rexdale Blvd was the only obvious spot but TTC bus service is actually only at Queen's Plate drive by the north end of the mall. They'll go below grade at Humber College Station, rising upward with a bridge over the Humber River and bulldoze through the parking lots (oh the horrors!) to reach Woodbine GO.
